  • Brian Simpson · 1 year ago
So the question is, this new q chat PPT. will it be compatable with current IDEN PPT?
  • malyzhus · 1 year ago
    YES!
  • David Clifton · 1 year ago
It is really amazing how Nextel comes back on the scene like the pre merger days when there is a new CEO at Sprint that likes Nextel
  • Brian Simpson · 1 year ago
well that good news, i kinda figured it would be. but wasnt for sure!
  • Brian Simpson · 1 year ago

  • Raul · 1 year ago
How come Sprint/Nextel does not have any official information about this. I have a BB7100i and cann't wait to replace it. I am have to have direct connect due to business with people in mexico. Does any one know for sure when this thing is comming out.
  • greg · 1 year ago
Talked to the rep/buddy at his store. He told me the launch date is either Sept 12 or October 2. Several neat features, he has held the new device. New technology, your SprintDirect connect will be your phone number with * in place of dashes in your phone number. He said that it will be compatabile with Nextel DC. Initial retail is around $600.00 but with rebates and service contract, will be less than that price. Will try to get more info from him.
  • Chris · 1 year ago
Is there any concrete information that Sprint has published regarding this new release, since it is about 2 months away??? Is there any other sites with additional information?
  • Stephanie · 1 year ago
I have been hearing about a new Nextel iDEN Blackberry for almost a year now without no release date. All I would like Sprint/Nextel to do is give us a release date! Please.
  • Greg · 1 year ago
Yes this phone will be released in Nov. 08
  • june · 1 year ago
last spoke to sprint today. they inform me that it will be aug 17 2008
  • greg · 1 year ago
Well, I just got a text from 'my' connection. He was at a meeting for the new BB, he is still insisting that the rollout is October. I think this is what Nextel/Sprint wants....everyone chomping at the bit to be first in line.....oh wait, that was Apple!
  • Juanita · 1 year ago
    hello,

i would like to know if anybody really knows the date for the new BB?? i'm hearing and seeing different dates. i'm ready to throw away my i7100!!!
  • Ben · 1 year ago
The dealer 'playbook' does not have it as of July 30 according to my rep... but they are being told September. When it is in their playbook they will get a date and a pre-order date. I will upgrade all 4 of my 7100i immediately...
  • john · 1 year ago
Ever notice that sprint puts pictures of all the new smart phones up on their site over a month before release? Still nothing up on this BB... I really hope this isnt just another rumor.
  • greg · 1 year ago
Like you, I am ready to discard this 7100
  • pete3 · 1 year ago
Our company has 29 7100I users and just about everyone of them as been replaced due to broken key pads or wheels. It would be great if this pans out as the 7100i is the worst unit I have personally ever used.
  • Troy · 1 year ago
Im the Sales manager at an indirect Sprint/Nextel dealer in IL. Also have offices in WI, KS, MO, OH. We deal with nationwide accounts. It was said to be released the 3rd quarter of this year. Im will be able to get exclusive discounts when its released.(better than the internet pricing) Contact me at trampolla@vazcom.net when its released. The more you get the bigger the discount on the equipment. Business and indiduals are welcome to take advantage
  • Jason · 1 year ago

I truly can’t believe Sprint has not put a single ounce of energy to capitalize on one of its true strengths in purchasing nextel= Competitive Advantage–that is to say after much time have not brought to market a pda phone w/ push-to-talk. Sprints voice service is strong here in Metro Detroit along w/ Nextel (and yes I know that nextel is an older network) . I truly believe Sprint has taken a bad rap on overall business, but I am going to have to jump on the band wagon here and say how disappointing it is that Sprint does not have the insight to capitalize on one of it’s core competencies since purchasing nextel– that new advantage was supposed to be push to talk along w/ sprint high speed voice/data network. I can’t believe this new 8350 is not even a hybrid. Come on Sprint, because of your lack of action, foresight, whatever you want to call it–you have let nextels ptt slip slowly into our distant memories. Never thought I’d see the day Verizon & AT&T would even get a foot in the door on Push-to-Talk. Sprint! You’ve got the right plans, now capitalize on bring the best of nextel (PTT) to more sprint based phones–especially smartphones/pda’s. Sprint is still my favorite network, but I had to leave it for the iphone3g (by the way, att’s 3G doesn’t come close to sprints high speed performance & consistency)–never the less I stick w/ att & a $160 phone bill because the Sam.Instinct is great, but not great enough to replace the iphone—–BUT, You know what?! A Samsung Instinct, Rim Blackberry, Motorola Q, HTC pda that came with Qchat/Nextel PTT button hands down would have my iphone up on Craigslist in minutes. Sprint! Use the cards you were dealt when you purchased Nextel–Play w/ a full deck! —final thought–if not then sell to T-mobile! (Talk about a company that’s maximized/created competitive advantages out of thin air! They don’t even have 3G, but have capitalized on UMA over Wifi Technology and somehow managed to be an industry changer in landlines offering its landlines @ $10.00 unlimited/month)–not to mention they market in Pink! (ok, I’m rambling, forget that last pink statement–I’m sure women love it)
  • Chris · 1 year ago
Thank for that insight Jared. Does anyone have any updates on the release date??? Are these available now???
  • Erick · 1 year ago
When this new The iDEN Curveball, Introducing the BlackBerry 8350, is come out, I cannot wait to get this phone, want know arount time frame...
  • jackie · 1 year ago
Will this new Blackberry be on the Nextel signal or Sprint Signal like the new nextel phones that are coming out? Only Nextel signal phones are able to DC with international Nextel users (mexico, argentina etc) this is what i need it for

  • BG Inc. · 1 year ago
Will this Blackberry work on other iden networks networks, in other words can it be unlocked?
  • Brian · 1 year ago
I spoke with Nextel today they still have no information in a release date.
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
Does anyone know how much it might be?
  • Ron · 1 year ago
Any updates on the updates... need the new 8350 fix asap !!!
  • Krissy · 1 year ago
Has anyone found out solid information about when the new BB will be released and how much it will be?

When talking with Sprint/Nextel customer service all they say is that it was announced that it will be out later this year, most likely Q4. They don't have any information either. I am so ready to be done with my 7100i but I have to have PTT for work. Also, is it definitely going to be the Curve? And I am really hoping it will have a camera!
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
I spoke with a rep for my company and she confirmed it was going to be in Nov. 08 but she has not exact date and price.

  • Krissy · 1 year ago
Don't know if anyone else saw this article but it looks like it's going to be a fatter Curve with an internal antenna. Why do they always have to make Nextels huge? We want pretty phones too!

    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2330234,00...
  • Chris · 1 year ago
They make them a little fatter than the regular BB's because of the amp. and the larger speaker. Does anyone have any new updates on a release date now that it is on Sprint/Nextel's website???
  • Krissy · 1 year ago
I am having major issues with my 7100i and was on the phone with Nextel tech support in Des Moines and he told me they are the only Nextel customer service location in the US. They don't have a release date either and they haven't seen the new 8350i. So the Nextel service reps don't have any more info than we do. I may have to replace my 7100 until the new one comes out, which I think is ridiculous. So I may have a new 7100 for an interim period of 2 weeks or 3 months. I told the rep if I have to buy a new phone before I buy the 8350 I will switch providers and take my company's 100+ phone lines with me! Nextel needs to take care of the few people they have left.

But rep said their office believes the 8350 will be one of a couple new direct connect BBs to come out in the future.
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
anyone know of a release date or pricing?
  • Randy · 1 year ago
Will the 8350i atill have delays when texting other carriers ? Just wondering if they have updated the IDEN network so there arent delays with texting like the old nextels .
  • Dan · 1 year ago
My rep said he understood it to be either the 1st or 2nd week of Nov. How knows if they will push it off even further.
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
  • GEEK · 1 year ago
Krissy, the answer is YES! They will have the new 8350i check sprint.com and search new phones, it will show you real pictures of the new 8350i(blackberry) and most of sprint stores do not know much about release dates. but is coming real soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait to get it, but for now my ic902 sprint/nextel is doing fine for work, play and all kinds of things, even to check satellite google maps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at the Nextel store today trying to get them to show me how group connect works on my 7100. They keep telling me it does, but my phone wont' do it. Anyways, they told me Dec 2 was the date for the new BB w/ PTT. It will have group connect capability and they had materials in the store. I cannot wait.
  • Ryan · 1 year ago
I spoke to sprint today and they guaranteed me october 28, 2008 to be released. Im gonna hold them to it.
  • BlackBerry CJ · 1 year ago

  • phonman · 1 year ago
the 7100 does have group connect, try taking it back to a store to get help with the ready now service we have which people have been trained to show you how to work every feature of your phone, also maybe check the user guide for the phone to get short cuts on how todo it.
  • phonman · 1 year ago
Yes you can use it for a wifi connection to your laptop if you don't have a broadband card.

  • ronnie · 1 year ago
I have been with nextel since the pocket talk days (if you can remeber that far back) and yes i had 3 of the i1000 plus phones. Since then i have progressed through all of their phases with them. The last blackberry i have (which isn't the last fone i bought) was the BB7520. Yes this phone is big and bulky but the main reason it's succesfull to me is because it was the last BB with a full qwerty keyboard and direct connect. i have updated the software but the screen resolution and the rest of the hardware in the phone is so outdated its horrible. I specifically refused to purchase the 7100i BB because it doesnt have a full qwerty keyboard. So the news of a new BB witha qwerty keyboard and a direct connect button is great news to me. If it has an antenna or not that doesn't matter. it has what MOST buisness people need.
  • Gerry · 1 year ago
    I guess not Oct. 19
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
I guess not. I was kinda disappointed. I called around the Sprint stores in my area and only one store told me to check back on Tuesday after 3pm. I was also chatting with some Sprint reps on Sprint.com and one person told me Nov. 2. That is just a really long time to wait and especially signing up on the sign up page and till this day I'v gotten nothing. It just sucks that the people in Sprint really have no clue...
  • Ale · 1 year ago
Do you guys Know when this i8350 Blackberry will be launched?
  • PTT Lover · 1 year ago
It is as you can see Saturday Oct 25th and still no verified info on a specific release date.

Who thinks sprint is going to release this BB to corporate accounts first, then trickle the rest out to people on the inside before its available to general consumers.
  • fustratedPTT · 1 year ago
Unbelievable! I even e-mailed dan@sprint.com and let him know ho I was going to take my entire company elsewhere because of no PDA phones with PTT. Still no PDA and ot 10-28-08. I am about to give up on Nextel.
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
I was told an email went out yesterday by a Sprint.com CS and a local Sprint store that the launch day will be Dec 1 and the available in stores Jan 11. Honestly... this phone needs to come out sooner then Dec. I've been patiently waiting for a couple months to get this info and no pricing.
  • Mslady · 1 year ago
You are truly right! I have been a Nextel customer for 10 years and its like Sprint has kicked us to the curb. I can't believe there is only 1 BB to choose from! If that 8350 doesn't come out this year, I will be cancelling my service.
  • Troy · 1 year ago

  • speedracer7111 · 1 year ago
i just got my priceing card and its priced at $299.99 before the $100 mail in rebate. so if i recieved this card im thinking the release will be this month november with december tops. i was at a meeting and actually had it in my hands and its a sweet phone. had 4.6 software, full iden, internal antenna, wifi, slightly bigger than the regular curve. i know i planning on getting one.
  • suckynextelphone · 1 year ago

Just called Nextel two different times!! One guy told me it would be out middle of next week. The next one told me some time at the end of dec, so I would say anytime from now till Newyears!! Maybe...
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
Nov 14th is the launch date but Dec 1st is when the phone is available for purchase via tele-sales or online. Again... this phone should have been out a very long time ago for people looking to make the switch. This is the very last phone on the fall line up to come out. I've seen nothing but Sprint commercials of late. I wonder if Dan from Sprint has this phone when he's doing the commercials, LOL!!!

    This from today from Sprint

Additionally, the company will launch the BlackBerry(R) Curve(TM) 8350i - the newest Nextel Direct Connect-capable BlackBerry smartphone.

In 2009, Sprint plans to launch a total of eight new Nextel Direct Connect handsets as part of its new device portfolio, with five launching during the first half of the year.

So do you wait to see what is coming out next year, or do you blow 200 bucks..

Just checked Sprints website. They changed their Fall lineup page to a Holiday lineup page and guess what? The 8350 is not on there. Looks like Dec. 1st is not going to be happening.
  • TomW · 1 year ago
Ordered mine yesterday from my Nextel rep and should have it Dec.1 or shortly after. Excited.
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
    TomW-

who did you call to order it?
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
i had called sprint this morning. i figured i once again like i've been doing for a month now confirm the release date again to find out that the 8350i will not be released until DEC 15th, 2008. can you believe that!!! OMG!!! dup to phone issues i was told. one week away from possibly and finially being able to have this phone in my hands and i got this news. i don't understand the hype about this phone anymore and i certainly do not understand sprints logic. the fall line up page has been removed and when i did find it on sprint.com there 8350i was not even on the page... the 8330 was. what is that all about??? AAAHHHHHH....
  • Andrew · 1 year ago
    yeah who did you call?
  • suckynextelphone · 1 year ago
Just another day in Nextel's boogie wonderland.
  • suckynextelphone · 1 year ago
Waiting for a phone that is almost outdated by the newer blackberry phones.
  • sprt675 · 1 year ago
So damn frustrating. It's unbelievable that in this say and age, one has to choose between having direct connect OR a Blackberry. The 7100 and 7520 are so old that people laugh that I still use them. EVERYONE is passing us Nextel users up for technology. I'm waiting until Dec. 15th, but I have very little hope that it will be released then either. The gal I spoke to at Blackberry said that they field trials revealed some 'major' issues that threaten the release all together.
  • Jen · 1 year ago
Anybody have any insight as to why Nextel can't have the phones that everyone else has? It is frustrating for those of us who can't switch networks because of coverage areas. Where I live Nextel is one of the only services that gets good coverage.
  • joe · 1 year ago
spoke to the bb rep today the new bb direct connects will be out no later than dec 15th but no sooner than dec 5th
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
i'm just wondering if these people from telesales are on planet earth. some say dec 1 and others say dec 15th. what is the real date? sprint stores have no info and honestly some just as lost. my agreement is up next month and i was really hoping to get this phone before i decide to switch carriers with more up to date technology. this waiting is really killing me.
  • Stephanie · 1 year ago

Just got an email from a customer service representative at sprint. He wrote that it would be out dec.15th and there should be promotional stuff that comes out first, announcing the 15th as the release date.
  • SL · 1 year ago
Sprint rep on their website also stated that the phone will be out on 12/15/08. Looking forward to updating my phone.
  • Andrew · 1 year ago
I herd the 12th, doubt the phone will come out dec. 12 or 15th
  • kman · 1 year ago
I currently have the 7100i and also have been wondering why Sprint/Nextel has not developed another Blackbeery with Direct Connect. I was this close to making the switch to the Storm and giving up on Direct Connect but after reading reviews and seeing it for myself I was quickly deterred from making that mistake. I hate to burst anyones bubble here as I am anxiously awaiting this 8350 also but I just spoke with a Sprint customer service rep on 12/1 and she says it may be mid January before the release! Sprint is really trying to lose customers.
  • Stephanie · 1 year ago
"By Stephanie on Nov 26, 2008 | Reply

They better come up with a concise date of release or our company will move our some 200 Nextel Blackberry user to the other vendors!"

Correction: between 600 to 700 Nextel Blackberry users.
  • M Hilt · 1 year ago
This is what my Nextel rep says as of today:

"Yes sir! They will ship on the 15th and the price is $149.99".

"If you send me the phone numbers of the ones you want to upgrade to I will order them for you".
  • Tee · 1 year ago
I also heard Dec. 15th was the release date when I both called and went into a Sprint store. I'm still stuck between staying with Nextel or just getting the Storm, which I assume is with Sprint.

It's 11 days from release and Sprint doesn't know how they are going to sell it?

Enough is enough! Sprint needs to post the official release date for the 8350…Today! We are all adults here, if they need to push the official date back so be it. Things dont go always the way we plan them and we understand that. But dont leave your loyal customers hanging or they will drop like flies and go with another carrier. I am dissappointed with the way Sprint is handling the release of this phone. My business depends on the PTT and I will wait for the darn thing. Sprint should just be honest and post the release dates for thier phones on thier website. This would clear up all the rumors. If the release date for a certian phone was delayed they could post an update via website. This would make all thier customers happy and the customer service department because they would stop getting so many calls and could refer customers to the website. This my friends make to much sense, so lets hope the rumor of 12/15/08 is right! I love America… If this is the biggest concern we have then we are all truly blessed.
  • Dizzy D · 1 year ago
OH PLEASE. You all need to to get a life. How many of you even know anything about how the technology works. Nextel will never die. It's what many government agencies and emergency services rely on. My opinion, if you're going to cry about a dang release date, I DON'T want to hear you say ONE WORD if something doesn't work right. WHY? Because they are trying to get the "BUGS" out so they don't have more "CRYBABIES". Grow up people. Learn about the technology that is required to make the system work. THEN TALK.
  • NevadaScorpion · 1 year ago
I feel sorry for Dizzy's husband.
  • NevadaScorpion · 1 year ago
We dont need to know how it works but when it will work. Give a release date of Feb 2009 and then release it in Jan. 2009 and that would give the appearnce of "Job while done". It sounds like Dizzy D is part of the Doom and Gloom crowd. I can sense the hate in her heart from here.Good news the sun will keep on shining. Sprint just needs to act like they care, thats all sweetheart.
  • spitfire · 1 year ago
Right on Nevada!!!! Im with you!!
  • LewDog9296 · 1 year ago
Dizzy, you should get a life yourself. If you think we are all wrong for asking for a release date...then whey come in to this site reading all these. It's pretty fair I think to ask you provider to give you a release date. I've had my 7520 for about 5 years now. Something like that. Anyway, I have given them a loyal customer for 5 years. The least they could do is give me a tentative date on when I get my new phone after 5 years. Go find another site to bring down Dizzy. We just want our new phone!!! Come on Sprint, give us a date. We've waited a long time for this new phone.
  • NevadaScorpion · 1 year ago

I've been with Nextel since 1999. I've had all I can take. DC isn't as needed as it once was. All my guys have unlimited phone plans anyway. I'm heading for greener pastures. Any suggestions / advice for my new service ATT, T-mobile, Verizon, etc..?

    Bye Bye Nextel/Sprint.

I am a sprint/indirect rep in PA and as of now the new BB will be able to be ordered/direct shipped to customers on mon 12/15/08, or able to be ordered via tele sales at sprint cust care, i would be more then happy to help anyone with ordering/shipping the new device to them. Typically when we a direct ship you will see a 2-3day turnaround time that it arrives, or we can also have it overnighted to you if need be. pricing will be available obviously later this week or even tomorrow to prepare for the launch. Sprint stores will not have them in stock on 12/15, it will be a couple of days after that till they do. But as of 12/15 you can go to your local store or a day or two and ahead and have it ordered and there then by 12/16, thanks have a great day to everyone. any questions email me... jsbenzamg@yahoo.com

I was told that it was suppose to come out December 7th of 2008. It should be out by now. A lot of places are either sold out or carry very very few. Still waiting for my store to get some.

The company I work for has a corporate account and the phone was just made available to us to order. I was told that I will have it by no later then next Wednesday. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

This is the latest update directly from Sprint CSR. I Copied and Paste the following:

    6:49:00 PM
Calvin G Thank you for contacting Sprint. My name is Calvin. How may I assist you today?
    6:49:27 PM
Peter When is the 83050 Curve BB available?
    6:49:43 PM
Peter Can I preoder it now?
    6:50:20 PM
Calvin G Are you asking about the BB 8350i for Nextel?
    6:50:32 PM
    Peter yes
    6:51:30 PM
Calvin G My most recent resources state the launch date is 12/15/2008; however, you can not preorder at this time.
    6:52:12 PM
Peter Will I be able to order the phone online on 12/15/08?
    6:53:00 PM
Calvin G If the phone does launch on that date, then yes, you can order online at that time. The launch date has been pushed back already, so it's hard to say if it will still come out on 12/15/2008.
    6:53:32 PM
    Peter Okay, Thank you. Bye.

Forget about Sprint's CSR. I got on Sprint's Live chat again to see if all the CSR are on the same page. One said she had no information and the next said 1/11/08. Unreliable at best.
  • still waiting... · 1 year ago
telesales is actually giving out a date of 12/15....
  • christian · 1 year ago
Just talked to the online chat with Sprint. They said the 8350i will not be coming out 12/15 as I was told by my Sprint rep Thursday. They don't have a new release date. This is getting ridiculous!

If anyone has any other info let us know!!!

  • Shirley · 1 year ago
i placed my order early am - 7:30am and still have not gotten a confirm email yet but i do have confirmation number over the phone. has this happened to anyone yet?
  • Shirley · 1 year ago
i ended up placing my order online - sprint.com. there are some issues with telesales the orders are just being created and not processed. they are having technical issues... go figure... it's been like that for the last 2 hours i was told.
  • NevadaScorpion · 1 year ago
I placed my order online with no problems. I logged on to my account upgraded my old phone and added a new one. Sprint gave me a break down of the cost and I had them bill my account. A few seconds later I recieved a confirmation e-mail. Went pretty smooth. I recomend online purchase. it's easier to have proof of purchase and you know upfront what your paying for without being rushed or pushed to buy accessories by CSR. Good Luck.

    NevadaScorpion -

Has your order shipped yet? How long did it take to process before you got a tracking number?
  • NevadaScorpion · 1 year ago
Shirley, Its 12:15 pm in Las vegas. I ordered 12/14/08 @ 9:05 pm yesterday. I went to call Sprint for a status check and the CSR said that it was being processed as we speak. As I hung up my phone rang and it was Sprint calling to verify information. After that she said that the order would be processed. She said I could check the staus online with my order #. So to make a long story longer, it took Sprint 15 hours to call me to process my order. She did say it will take 3-5 days to arrive but it could arrive sooner. I cant wait;)

I called Telesales from my Nextel handset (611) today and ordered mine. They were able to offer me an additional $50 telesales-only invoice credit, as well as waive my $18.00 activation fee....NICE! So, with the addtional $50 credit, plus tax, my complete price paid will have been $148.71 after i receive my $100 rebate check... cool beans.

And to think that I came THAT CLOSE to ordering it online... And, to confirm, it is NOT a hybrid phone... totally 100% iDEN... thanks.
  • Scott · 1 year ago
Ordered mine online around 11:00am, got a confirmation email around 11:30am and got a tracking number around 8:00pm.

  • Scott · 12 months ago
I don't think it is your phone. If you go to blackberry.com and look at the forums, a lot of people are having the same problems.
  • suckynextelphone · 11 months ago
How about some new themes now huh?
  • Stacy · 11 months ago
It's out now finally. I was just able to order one today.
  • kriss · 10 months ago
ive had mine for 2 weeks now and i like it. i find that its a little slow on moving from app to app and the ball/scroll response is often delayed (somewhat annoying). also, when i am typing (email, text, etc) i feel like i am using a regular nextel phone where i have to slow down in order for the phone to keep up with me. anyone else encounter these problems? maybe im just being picky, but my palm doesn't do it... also, i've found that i cannot figure out how to keep the phone completely on viberate (in vib mode, DC still come in on the speaker).
